HoboGamer speaks… about himself

How about an Introduction, since it would be rude not to:

A little info about me, Mr HoboGamer, i’ve been a PC Gamer/Enthusiast since the 486/DOS days. Finding the best bang-for-buck hardware that would let me play the fairly latest games albeit with lower settings and frames, but hey.. at least i could run them.

Oh the fond memories of my hardy GeForce 2 MX card powering my HalfLife and Quake3 addiction for several years before the all-mighty upgrade to the GeForce 4 Ti4200 , which has to be my all-time-favourite budget piece of gaming hardware, this little work-horse of a videocard saw me through plenty of games.

I’m always behind the curve on the latest, greatest and expensive hardware because i’m usually cash-strapped, so i try to find the parts that give me the most bang-for-buck. These days the Budget Beast is running an AMD A64 3000+ , 1GB DDR, Nvidia 7900GS machine. This little guy has been with me for the last 2 years or so, but i must confess i did splurge a little on the 7900GS (at the time it was in the top end mid-range or was it the low-end top-range…)

Oh and i finally moved onto LCD technology with that upgrade, my heavenly 19″ Widescreen ASUS screen. It’s doing well and running World Of Warcraft and more recently Call of Duty 4 and Bioshock, not bad for a 2 year old machine.

Fairly obvious to say i do delve into some overclocking here and there too, just to squeeze as much performance out of my gear as possible, so HoboGamer will likely be touching on this topic now and then.

HoboGamer is a devout PC Gamer, who loves his budget hardware and getting the most bang for his buck, i.e cheap-skate.
